Rarotonga is the main island of the Cook Islands.
There is one 32 km circular road around the island. Avarua is the main and only town. The highest pick stands at 658m above sea level.
With 7500 inhabitants, it contributes to half of the 15 Cook Islands population.
After arriving at the international airport, you will be transfered to you hotel or hostel which are all right on the beach.
Duting the Christmas holidays, many Cook Islanders come back home and it's might be extremely deficcult to get a flight ticket.
It is estimated that 50,000 Cook Islanders immigrated to New Zealand or Australia where they have either the double nationality or an automatic work permit.
This is a view of the Raemaru mountain. According the the legend, it's top was tranfer by canoe to the nearby flat island of Aitutaki.
